The Monarch Frame Method

A five-stage photographic approach built around purpose, composition, presence, polish, and delivery. Every enquiry is shaped around the brief.

Photography shaped from enquiry through to delivery

The Monarch Frame Method is a structured approach to photographic direction that begins with the purpose of the images and concludes with final delivery in formats suited to the agreed use. Each stage is intentional.

"Every image deserves a stronger frame."

The frame is not just the photograph's edge. It is the intent, the direction, the composition, and the care that goes into ensuring an image serves the purpose it was created for.

01

Purpose

Clarify why the images are needed and where they will be used.

Before any session is discussed, we take time to understand the purpose of the imagery — whether for a website, professional profile, marketing material, event documentation, or other agreed use. The intended context shapes every decision that follows.

02

Composition

Shape the visual direction, framing, mood, and image style.

Based on the purpose, we develop a visual direction for the session — the framing approach, tonal mood, orientation, setting considerations, and overall image style. This stage ensures the photography is aligned with the intended outcome before any session begins.

03

Presence

Guide the subject, scene, or moment with confidence and clarity.

During the session, the focus is on guiding the subject or scene with care — creating the conditions for composed, natural, and purposeful imagery. Posture, expression, placement, and atmosphere are all considered as part of the overall visual direction.

04

Polish

Prepare the final image look, crops, retouching direction, and finish.

After the session, images are prepared with attention to consistent finish, appropriate cropping, and retouching direction aligned with the agreed style. The goal is a polished, cohesive set of images ready for their intended use.

05

Delivery

Provide images in suitable formats for web, profile, social, print, or agreed use.

Final images are delivered in formats and sizes suitable for the agreed use — web, social media, professional profiles, marketing material, or print. Specific delivery requirements, file types, and usage matters are discussed and agreed as part of the enquiry.

What to include in your enquiry

The more detail you can provide in your initial enquiry, the more effectively we can discuss the photographic direction, session logistics, and delivery requirements.

Image delivery and usage rights

Delivery formats: Images are prepared and delivered in formats agreed per enquiry — typically JPEG for web, social, and print use, alongside any other agreed file formats. Delivery timescales are confirmed ahead of each session.

Licensing and usage: Image licensing terms, permitted uses, exclusivity arrangements, and usage rights are discussed and agreed as part of each enquiry. No commercial rights, unlimited usage, or automatic licensing is assumed or implied. Licensing is agreed per enquiry.

Retouching and editing: Post-processing level, retouching direction, and any specific editing requirements are discussed and agreed as part of the brief. The finished style aligns with the visual direction set out in the Composition stage.
